Smith Williams, a Birmingham native and Alabama School of Fine Arts alum, completed undergraduate and graduate piano studies at Carnegie Mellon University where he studied with Ralph Zitterbart and Sergey Schepkin. Smith is currently the pianist for the Unitarian Universalist Church of Birmingham as well as the Director of Marketing and often keyboardist, for the Alabama Symphony Orchestra.
An active teacher, Smith has taught piano through Carnegie Mellon’s Preparatory School, and also served on the staff of the CMU School of Music's Pre-College program as a Voice Coach and Accompanist. He has served as resident Music Director for the Stage Right School of Performing Arts and Theater Company in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, as well as the Adderley School for the Performing Arts in Pacific Palisades, California. Since returning to Birmingham, Smith has taught at University of Montevallo Department of Theatre, UAB's Alys Stephens Center Kids on Stage Drama Camp, and Birmingham Children's Theatre Young Actors Theatre program.
An active chamber musician and accompanist, Smith can be seen regularly in Birmingham collaborating with various artists including ASO musicians.
